The NEST Initiative is a non-partisan, rights-based civil society organisation weaving three strands of Nigerian democracy together — digital rights, civic participation, and voters’ rights — so that every citizen can engage safely, online and offline.

Who we are

Built like a nest: many strands, one shelter.

The NEST Aid & Community Development Initiative was established in 2024 and formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria in 2025. We were founded to enhance democratic participation, safeguard civic freedoms, and strengthen the protection of voters’ rights across Nigeria — both online and offline.

Operating at the nexus of digital rights, civic participation, and electoral engagement, we empower citizens — especially youth and underserved communities — to understand their rights, demand accountability, and engage confidently in democratic processes.

Through education, advocacy, community-centred programming, and civic innovation, we support an inclusive, rights-respecting, and participatory democratic culture.

VISION

A Nigeria where all people can safely exercise their digital freedoms, actively participate in civic life, and enjoy free, fair, and transparent elections supported by strong voters’ rights protections.

MISSION

To defend digital rights, expand civic participation, and protect voters’ rights through citizen education, policy advocacy, research, community organising, and innovative civic technologies.

STRATEGIC GOAL

To strengthen democratic governance and community development by enabling informed participation, empowering citizens with accurate civic information, and improving accountability across digital spaces, civic processes, and electoral systems.
